Giorgio Tesi Group Italian Partner of 2013 World Cycling Championships in Tuscany

The Organizing Committee of the 2013 World Championships of Cycling in Tuscany and the Giorgio Tesi Group are pleased to announce the partnership agreement that allows the group of nursery companies from Pistoia to handle exclusively the floricultural sector, setting up green spaces for the entire event – from the Pala Mandela Forum sports hall to groups of stands, from the departure and arrival areas to communication events – as well as supplying the plants and flowers for the awards presentations.

The Giorgio Tesi Group is the European leader in ornamental plant production as well as in quality and environmental certifications. Besides its headquarters in Pistoia, the group has four other branches that are located in Grosseto, Orbetello (Gr), Piadena (Cr), and San Benedetto del Tronto (AP). It has also recently acquired Class A MPS certification and is the only European nursery company to have EMAS certification. For years, it has had a rewarding relationship with the sports world as evidenced by its partnership with Pistoia’s basketball team and its agreement with AC Milan to supply greenery for the Milanello Sports Center.

The green spaces for the stands to be set up in the squares of Florence, Lucca, Pistoia, Montecatini, and Fiesole will give preference to the typical plants of Tuscany and Pistoia including important trees, particularly cypresses, one of the exclusive specialties of the Giorgio Tesi Group. For the awards presentations, in addition to the customary flowers, the company also plans to create special topiaries depicting Pinocchio and the world of cycling.

From 22 to 29 September 2013, over 1.5 million spectators will be along the event’s routes. In addition, there are 7000 people from over ninety different countries involved in the event, including 1, 500 journalists and 250 media outlets from 180 countries. On the basis of these numbers, the Organizing Committee of the 2013 World Championships of Cycling in Tuscany has expressed great satisfaction at reaching an agreement with a leading international company with a strong tradition of supporting sports.
