During the Final Eight of the Italian Basketball Cup, the Pistoia company made available a hundred-year-old olive tree that was placed at the entrance of the Mandela Forum for the inauguration of the Mandela Memorial.

The Giorgio Tesi Group’s partnership with the world of sports and of social commitment continues. It is now the Official Green Partner of Legabasket Series A after having recently signed the agreement that led to it becoming the Technical Supplier for AC Milan. The Pistoia-based company is European leader in the ornamental plant nursery sector, with exports to 59 countries worldwide and 18 production facilities (located at the company’s Pistoia headquarters and the offices in Piadena, San Benedetto del Tronto, Grosseto, and Orbetello).

Thanks to this prestigious agreement, the Giorgio Tesi Group’s plant production has become the centerpiece at events organized by the LBA, starting with the 2018 Poste Mobile Final Eight of the Italian Cup held 15-18 February at the Mandela Forum in Florence, where the best eight Italian basketball teams took to the court to compete for the prestigious trophy.

"We’re very satisfied with this important agreement,” Giorgio Tesi Group’s legal representative Fabrizio Tesi commented. “After years of having been main sponsor of a premier league club, our company is now increasingly tied to the sports world, clearly representing a further step towards the ever more significant growth of our image."

On Wednesday, 14 February at 3 pm, in front of the Florentine Palasport entrance, the Nelson Mandela Forum Association kicked off the initiatives celebrating the centenary of the South African political leader’s birth, with the inauguration of the Mandela Memorial. It is a faithful reproduction of the Robben Island prison cell where he was incarcerated for 16 years. The structure has been installed under the entrance shelter of the Nelson Mandela Forum and will be open to everyone at all hours.

Giorgio Tesi Group also contributed to this initiative by providing the Association with a hundred-year-old olive tree that was placed at the Mandela Forum entrance, as a symbol of peace, solidarity, the common good, and brotherhood – essential values for this great man who has changed the history of the world.

The initiative was coordinated by Giacomo Galanda, the company's Special Project Manager in addition to being a FIP federal advisor and Italian basketball legend.

Galanda stated, "I’m very happy with this partnership signed with the LBA, an organization with new ideas. In addition to representing the excellence of the Italian basketball, it’s a forward-looking organization whose aim is to re-launch and strengthen the images of their teams. The important thing for our company, whose roots are in Tuscany, is that, as this partnership with the LBA is taking off, the Final Eight is being held in Florence, a city where, after many years, great basketball is finally played "

The installation will continue until the end of the summer.
